Internship Seekers' Guide

Tips and tricks for finding internship opportunities

Internships

More Than Job Boards

Often internship opportunities aren't posted on major job/internship posting websites.  Sometimes getting an internship can be extremely competitive as well.  When you're looking for an internship:

  • Let your network know. Who is in your network? Make a list of people you have a connection with like friends, family, and classmates.  Professors may even give you leads for opportunities and advice about what will help you advance your career.
  • Check out the career center at your school.  They may have an internal database of internships only accessible to students at your school. Career coaches at your school (and professors too!) might also provide valuable advice for how to approach applying for different opportunities.
  • Check out association and industry specific websites. Postings on these websites don't always make it to the major sites.
