Success at Business School!

Helpful Suggestions

The Boston Public Library can help you in your quest for GMAT success.

  • Assess your strengths and weaknesses by looking at practice questions or by taking a GMAT practice exam. Also look at your past performance especially if you struggled with math, writing, test taking etc.
  • Make a study schedule. Give yourself 2-6 months of time to study before your exam depending on your comfort and skill level. Commit yourself to 30 minutes to an hour a day. Also schedule larger blocks of time to take practice exams.
  • Practice, practice, practice. BPL has numerous books and guides to help you beat the GMAT.  Explore our catalog to place holds on books and e-books or use our e-resource Learning Express Library and Gale Online Learning Portal which has downloadable guides and online practice exams. There are free websites that can help too!

A note: Some schools ask for either the GRE or the GMAT.  Check with the admissions website of your chosen programs.  You can still use Gale Courses and LearningExpress Library to prepare for the GRE too!
