2021 City Elections

This year we will be electing a mayor.  Mayor Walsh resigned to become Commerce Secretary.  Kim Janey, President of the City Council, has been serving as Acting Mayor Since.

In addition, we will be electing members of the City Council.  The City Council is made up of 13 members.  9 are elected from districts, while 4 are elected citywide, or at-large.  Two at-large and three district councilor are not running for reelection.

Key Dates

  • August 25- last day to register to vote and be eligible to vote in the preliminary election.  8 PM is the deadline
  • September 14- date of the preliminary election.  This election will reduce the number of candidates to 2 for each office, except for at large city councilors.  In that case, the field will be reduced to 8.  Polls will be open 7 AM to 8 PM.
  • October 13- last day to register to vote and be eligible to vote in the municipal election.  8 PM is the deadline.
  • November 2- date of the municipal election.  This will decide who will be mayor and who will be on the City Council.  Polls will be open 7 AM to 8 PM.
